This website is dedicated to all the guys that keep this tradition alive!

How it all started

It all started back in 1989 in Standish, Michigan when Tom, Joe, and Tim Phillips were sitting around having a few soda pops. PQ's Pizza was recently opened for business, and each of the brothers had contributed to its immediate success.  As they were talking one afternoon, they thought about starting a yearly get-together.  Joe suggested, "Hey, let's play some golf".  Once they agreed, Tim thought it could be a long weekend and Tom suggested a full week!  They settled on making it one long weekend where all of their friends and family (male only) could get together and forget about life for a while.  Play golf, gather around the campfire, and just hang out with the guys.  That's what they did!

In 1990, PQ's Stadium Shootout was born.  It was decided that this tradition would be a yearly thing that was always scheduled on the first full weekend of June.  Over the years, the town of Standish (and sometimes Pinconning) would be changed forever...or at least for those 3 or 4 days.  New friendships were formed and family members were drawn closer.  Through so much laughter, a few tears, a bunch of terrible golfers, and many, many beers; PQ's Stadium Shootout has become part of a family tradition for all.  To this day...the tradition continues.

Message from Tom

The world has gone through much change, but for one weekend a year, life stands still when a bunch of guys get together to have some fun.  What started out with three brothers sitting around having a few soda pops has become a tradition they hope will never end.  This is where stories are told, memories are made, and bonds are formed over the years.  We have laughed together, cried with each other, and remembered the ones who have gone before us.  We have lost Fathers, Brothers, Uncles, and friends.  Others have stepped up to fill the foursomes and the game continues.  None of the ones who are gone will ever be forgotten.  Their names will be spoken and their memories will live over and over.  This is how it is supposed to be on the first weekend in June when the boys get together to have some fun...and another soda pop.
